Tree Surgery Oxford
Today we were doing tree work on a large Fir from the bottom of a long garden, with lots of cars parked on the street, with lots of pedestrians and a longer drag than we had hoped. But we boomed it and the owners were delighted with the extra light and space

Firs and tree surgery
True Firs are amongst Britain’s largest trees. There are several types of tree that come under this heading, including fir, true cedar, larch, spice, pine, Douglas-fir and hemlock
’A Fir, for the first half-dozen years, seems to stand, or at least makes no considerable advance, but it is when thoroughly rooted, that it comes away miraculously”
The Job In Hand – tree work
This couple had just brought the house a year ago. This mature fir must have been appropriate at one point in time but now it clearly wasn’t. Not only were the owners missing out on lots of light and space, their neighbours were as well.
The technical Tree Surgery part was not that difficult as there was lots of space. The drag and parking were the tiring parts here and moving the whole tree to the front and away.
Firstly we got the tree on the ground, doing all the chipping and logging up
Secondly we were grinding the stump, clearing the wood and clearing up

Stumping grinding as a part of tree work
Stump grinding is a key part of tree work but also a specialist activity. The professional stump grinder costs several thousand pounds and the teeth are expensive to replace and can wear reasonably quickly, depending on what type of wood they are grinding and what they hit along the way.
