Why did this tree work need doing?
Usually we don’t carry out pruning on apple trees until the colder months but because the seasons have changed so much and the owner wasn’t worried for the fruit, we decided to do it with a lot of other work.
The leaders had got too long, the middle needed clearing & the ends thinning. This will then mean the goodness in the tree, next spring will be pushed to the concentrated ends which are fruit bearing.
The other reason this work needed doing was because the owner had got too old to deal with it himself.
