Tree Work Oxford

Today we were doing tree work in Oxford.

Why did this tree work in Oxford need doing?

Firstly, the main stem was very close to the house.  Normally when we do a reduction, the branches need to be more than 2m away from the building but in this case the stem was not even 2m.

Secondly, the root system was unbalanced.

Thirdly, there were lots of open and rotten wounds.

I really don’t know why this tree was left standing when this building was built, the roots were severed & this accelerated the decline of this lovely Birch.  It would have been so much better if they had done this tree work in Oxford at the time of the build.  Then a more appropriate tree could have been put in at a reasonable distance from the building.

Of the Birch….

The Silver Birch is my favourite tree.  Its Latin name is Betula.  A deciduous tree, striking in colour with a gorgeous dappled shade effect from the leaves.  The sound the wind makes as it blows gently through the canopy of a birch is gorgeous.  We have reduced or removed many Birches over the years whilst we’ve been doing tree work in Oxford.

Birches are often grown in clumps, in odd numbers which look stunning.  The bark is glorious & striking, whatever the variety of tree.
