Why did this work need doing?

This tree surgery needing doing because some big branches had come down last winter.  This is a large tree at the back and side of 3 other gardens, therefore the landlord needed to carry out his “duty of care” in making sure no damage was done to property or more importantly, people.

Firstly, the tree itself was a multi stemmed Beech, was about 60ft in height. Some big branches had come down already.

Secondly to carry out this work need to be a qualified and experienced tree surgeon in Oxford.

Thirdly, access was awful, a tight street, with parking on both sides.  All the waste would have had come come through the house, a nightmare situation for us.  We had tried the week before and just couldn’t get good parking.

The solution here was to do the work and cut everything up into the right size for the owners wood burner, we bought a tarp and it was all there at the end of the garden, probably enough wood for 10 years.

Of the Beech

Fagus Sylvatica is the Latin name for Beech.  Used on a large industrial scale to make furniture, but as new textures became available, it was thought to be too brittle

Native to SE England, there are a couple of cultivated species which include the the “copper” or “purple’ beech and the “golden”.

” in the values, where they stand warm and in consort, they will grow to a stupendous procerity, though the soil may be stony and very barren”.
