Why were we called in to carry out tree work in Oxfordshire?

The scenario here was that the owners had not long moved in. There was a long line of poplars that ran along the fence line. These had been topped out about 10 years ago. It was now time to carry out more tree work in Oxfordshire, for the following reasons:

The were blocking out to much light and taking up to much space.
They were getting to tall and worrying the owner because there was a busy road on the other side of the fence.

What was needed?

Firstly there were 10 trees. Secondly they all needed pollarding, which needs reducing to poles to allow for re growth. Thirdly the stems then needed reducing to a new height, this meant there was a lot of waste and wood to take away, 3 truck loads!

Large amounts of Poplar were planted in the 1950’s mostly to supply the match and crate packaging markets. The wood grows quickly is light and soft, so if it’s not needing much strength or you’re setting fire to it, it’s ideal
